2 Roles & Responsibilities

While renewable energy penetration is changing landscape in power sector, at QQEC we are forefront in solving grid integration complexity. We are seeking passionate power system engineers to join our team having experience in performing grid compliance and grid integration studies in PSS/E, PSCAD and PowerFactory DigSilent tool.

2.1 Power System Analysis & Studies

Candidate shall have experience of performing following studies/tasks:

  • Candidate shall have worked on power system study projects of utility scale Solar PV Plant, Wind Farm and Battery Energy Storage system.
  • Candidate shall have experience of performing steady state analysis including load flow studies, short circuit studies, contingency analysis.
  • Candidate shall have experience of performing power quality studies including harmonic studies, DC current injection and flicker studies.
  • Candidate shall have worked on reactive power sizing for pre-bid engineering and detail engineering projects including optimization with multiple options like additional Inverter or SVG/STATCOM or APFC panel.
  • Candidate shall have worked on India, Africa, Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain), USA, Europe and other country specific grid code.
  • Candidate shall have worked on dynamic studies including LVRT (Low voltage ride through), HVRT (high voltage ride through), fast frequency response (FFR), active power control, power curtailment studies.
  • Candidate shall have performed dynamic studies in PSS/E (RMS tool), PSCAD (EMT) tool.
  • Candidate shall have competency to develop scripts in PowerFactory DigSilent, PSS/E using inhouse tool or python tool.
  • Candidate having experience of conducting grid impact studies including load flow, short circuit, contingency analysis, transient stability and other cases for country specific or state specific grid network shall be preferred.
  • Candidate having worked for long distance transmission line and performed cross-country line modelling and analysis, stead state voltage analysis including PQ and PV curve shall be preferred.
  • Candidate shall have experience of performing Renewable Energy Plant getting integrated with industrial plant including steel plant, cement plant, mining plant and micro grid. Candidate shall have experience of conducing islanding, black start and developing load shedding scheme.
  • Candidate shall have performed protection coordination studies, generating TCC curves including ETAP, PowerFactory DigSilent and other tool.
  • Candidate shall have experience of working with hybrid projects including combination of Solar PV+Wind Farm, Solar PV+Windfarm+BESS, Solar PV+BESS and standalone projects including Solar PV, Wind Farm and BESS projects.
  • Candidate having experience of modelling green hydrogen (electrolyser) and datacentre shall be preferred.
  • Candidate having worked for Oil & Gas Industry, Data Center along with Renewable energy projects shall be preferred.
  • Candidate shall have experience of conducting insulation coordination studies including TOV, SFO, FFO, VFFO and TRV studies.
  • Candidate having experience of conducting small signal stability studies using MATLAB, SSAT or other equivalent tool shall be preferred.
  • Candidate having experience of sub synchronous oscillations / sub synchronous resonance / sub synchronous torsional interaction studies shall be preferred for Renewable Energy Plant.
  • Candidate having experience of performing of Sub synchronous control iteration studies between different converter-based equipment shall be preferred.
  • Candidate having performed time series-based power flow shall be preferred.
  • Candidate have experience of performing grounding studies in CDEGS, ETAP, XGSLAB or other equivalent tool shall be preferred.

2.2 Software Modelling & Tools

  • Mandatory: PSS/E and PSCAD.
  • Optional: DigSilent PowerFactory, EMTP, CDEGS, ETAP, Cymcap, SKM, MATLAB and SSAT.

2.3 Renewable & Emerging Technologies

  • Hands-on experience in modelling Solar PV Plants, Wind Farm, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is mandatory
  • Exposure to Green Hydrogen, HVDC, and FACTS (SVC, STATCOM) systems preferred.
  • Exposure of having worked on Green Hydrogen (including electrolyser) and Data Center shall be preferred.

2.4 Technical Expertise

  • Perform manual calculations for:
  • Reactive Power & Short Circuit levels.
  • Transformer, CT, and PT sizing.
  • Earthing and Lightning Protection.
  • Unit and Non-unit Protection (including Distance Protection).
  • Data collection skills from field for grid impact and grid integration studies.
  • Understanding or experience of Engineering activities.

2.5 Programming & Automation

Proficiency in DSL and Python scripting for automation, data analysis, and model optimization is desirable.

2.6 Compliance & Standards

  • Strong understanding of IEC, IEEE, NEC, and Indian Standards relevant to power system studies.
  • Strong understanding of grid codes from India, Africa, and the Middle East (knowledge of North American and AS/NZ codes is a plus).

2.7 Documentation & Communication

  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and study curves.
  • Review vendor documents, protection schemes, and specifications for Inverters, PCS, BESS, and Wind Turbine Generator.
  • Support business development activities such as technical blogs, white papers, and client presentations.

2.8 Field & Site Experience

Experience in relay settings at site, harmonic measurements, and site testing will be an added advantage.

3 Competency   

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: Prior experience in renewable energy (solar, wind, BESS) projects, especially in power evacuation studies, preferred.
  • Candidates from Oil & Gas or Process Industries with relevant power systems experience are welcome to apply.
